Funding is available for Croatian companies to finance innovation projects under the "Business Development and Innovation Croatia" programme financed by the EEA&Norway grants and managed by Innovation Norway.

Eligible Activities

 

Eligible activities are related to the objective of the programme that is to increase competitiveness, value creation and sustainable growth of Croatian enterprises within the focus areas of Green Industry Innovation and Blue Growth.

  • Green Industry Innovation
  1. Development, implementation and investment in innovative environmental friendly technologies
  2. Development of green products and services
  3. Development and implementation of “greener production processes”
  • Blue Growth
  1. Development and investment in maritimesupra-structures
  2. Development and investment in coastal and maritime tourism
  3. Development and investment in blue biotechnology
  4. Development and investment in seabed mining resources
  5. Development of products and solutions related to maritime transport
  6. Development of solutions on blue energy
  7. Development of innovative products and solutions within fisheries and aquaculture
  8. Development of innovative solutions related to marine litter and waste
  9. Development of innovative technologies for water supply, including desalination

 

Eligible expenses 


As always with grants-funding, eligible expenses must be linked to eligible project activities (vide supra).

  • Staff assigned to the project, incl. travel and subsistence, where applicable (example: staff for R&D activities in the project, other technical activities or project management); 
  • Cost of purchase for new equipment (examples: machinery, installations, special technology related to the project activity) - purchase of second-hand equipment is also eligible, but special conditions apply;
  • Costs of consumables and supplies (examples: materials and consumables required during R&D or testing); 
  • Subcontracting & external suppliers (examples: technical consultancy, engineering; legal; finance etc);
  • Information & publicity around the project, as well as other costs arising directly from requirements imposed by the project contract;
  • Cost of purchase of real estate or land, as well as costs of site preparation and construction, may be eligible under special conditions;
  • Eligible indirect costs/ overheads (15% – 25% flat rate, special conditions apply). 

In order to be eligible, expenses shall be incurred after the date on which the grant is awarded or at a later date as defined in the Project Contract (not before!). The final date of eligibility for expenses will be set by the Project Contract and shall be no later than 30 April 2024.

Eligible expenses are those actually incurred by the Project Promoter (Main applicant) or the Project Partners (local or from the Donor State).
